How does one install a First Nature Pet Water Bottle into a Bird Cage?
We bought the bottle from Wal-Mart and a silver clip and black thing fell off before we got the chance to install it. Can someone explain how to install it?
The package includes:
-8 oz. Water Bottle
-Round silver clip that wraps around the bottle (ends are hooked)
-Black stripped shaped thing

I will tell you the best I can without being able to actually show you. However, first I’d like to give you a suggestion. Take it back to the store and get your money back. Trying to use a water bottle for a bird is not a good idea at all. First off, that is not a natural way for them to try to get a drink. They need to be able to dip their beak in to a bowl of water and drink that way. Even for the few who do finally figure out how to get a drop or two out at a time, in can be dangerous for them. The ball can hang up and if you don’t notice it right away, they can quickly dehydrate. Or the whole thing can leak. losing all the water that’s in it. Most important, since birds are very at risk from bacteria, is the cleanliness factor. Even though the bottle might hold a lot of water, birds still need fresh water, in a clean container everyday. Getting these bottles, their tubing and the ball totally clean is very difficult. Bacteria can grow very quickly in these things and you can lose a bird because of it. Simply put, they are just more trouble than they are worth, hard to work with, hard to position securely in the cage, (as you have seen) and just not a good idea. If you are considering one because your bird messes in his water, the solution for that is a hooded crock type bowl. All pet stores have them in a variety of sizes. The top of it is slightly hooded. That keeps droppings from getting in the water, even if the bird lets go with one right over the bowl. For the sake of your bird’s health and your aggravation, I strongly recommend against it. As for the mounting of it, the wire “harness” must be mounted securely on a horizontal bar of the cage. The bottle is turned upside down, inserted into the metal ring with the tube protruding between the horizontal bars. It’s a shaky set up at best and if it falls, your bird will have no way to drink best case, and worst case, the bird could be injured. I’m sorry I can’t explain better. They are just a huge aggravation and not trustworthy at all. I hope this helps.
